CHRISTMAS IN CALGARY

Saturday, November 24, 1945

On leave from the Army until January 15, 1946. I remained at home until

December 20, when I left for Calgary.

Thursday, December 20, 1945

Left home by train. Stayed overnight in Canora.

Friday, December 21, 1945

Left Canora and arrived in Saskatoon at 9:00 pm.

Saturday, December 22, 1945

Traveled all day and arrived in Calgary in the afternoon. Vic picked me up at the

station.

Sunday, December 23, 1945

Attended services at the Nazarene Church in the morning. Stayed with Vic and

Francis.

Monday, December 24, 1945

Was downtown Calgary to do some Christmas shopping. Received letters from

Margaret and Alice.

Tuesday, December 25, 1945

Stayed with the Latimers. Had a turkey Christmas dinner. Received gifts from

Margaret, Vic, and Francis.

Wednesday, December 26, 1945

Remained indoors today with the Latimers. Prepare to leave for Edmonton.

Thursday, December 27, 1945

Traveled by bus to Edmonton. Alice met me at the bus station at 2:00 am.

Friday, December 28, 1945

Travelled to Barrhead by bus. Were picked up a the bus depot in Barrhead. Went to

Rieka’s house. Received a pencil and pen set from Alice as well as a book.

Saturday, December 29, 1945

Helped with sawing wood all day. Walked to Riekas house in the evening. Came

home in a car.

Sunday, December 30, 1945

Went to Westlock with Henry and Alice to bring Jean home with their new baby,

Dorothy. Had supper at Riekas, then walked home in the evening.

Monday, December 31, 1945

Went hunting in the morning. Sawed wood in the afternoon.
