LEAVE IN ENGLAND

Thursday, February 22, 1945

Getting ready to leave for a holiday in England. Traveled to B Echelon to

begin our journey. Stayed overnight at the B Echelon.

Friday, February 23, 1945

Left B Echelon for transit camp. Traveled all night on a train. Wooden

seats are very hard to sit on. Arrived in Calais at 1:00 am.

Saturday, February 24, 1945

Arrived at transit camp. We received our pay. Was able to change 107 guilders and

400 franks into English money. Smith was not able to get his money changed. Arrived at

Folkston at 3:00 pm.

Sunday, February 25, 1945

In London, had two watches in for repairs at a cost of $4.00. Had tea at the Beaver

Club. Stayed there for the night. Right off Trafalgar.

Monday, February 26, 1945

Left London, from the Victoria Station, for Worthing, arriving there at 5:00 pm.

Joyce Holmes had come in the morning. Mr. Walters and I went to the evening service at the

Gospel Hall. Stayed at the Walter home.

Tuesday, February 27, 1945

Bought a pocket watch. Bought two books for Roy. Was at two church services at

the James church. Wrote a letter to Alice.

Wednesday, February 28, 1945

In Worthing went downtown. Mailed letters at the post office. Having some more

pictures of the Scotch boys.

Thursday, March 1, 1945

Went out into the country to pick daffodils with the Walters family. Visited Mr. &

Mrs. Irland. Met Ken Swan (a friend). Wrote letters in the evening.

Friday, March 2, 1945

Joyce left for London today. I went to Brighton. Picked up some pictures. Packed

Setters camera. Wrote letters and Easter cards.

Saturday, March 3, 1945

Traveled to London. Stayed at Mr. & Mrs. Holmes. Roy is here. Went to bed at

10:30 pm.
